What You’ll Do

This role supports nutritional analysis, formulation development, and quality initiatives within a pet food manufacturing environment. You will work cross-functionally with quality, production, and procurement teams to ensure formulations meet nutritional standards, regulatory requirements, and product performance goals.

  • Assist with nutritional analysis and evaluation of feed ingredients and pet food formulations
  • Support development of new pet food products and balanced formulations
  • Conduct research on ingredient innovations and nutritional trends in the pet food industry
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with nutritional standards and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare technical nutritional documentation and support internal reporting needs
  • Provide nutritional information and technical support to internal teams as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of formulation data and research findings
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams on product performance and improvement initiatives
  • Participate in field visits, trials, and product evaluations as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Food Science, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in a nutritionist, formulation, or related role
  • Foundational understanding of animal nutrition and feed formulation principles
  • Strong analytical and data-interpretation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain detailed documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Location & Employment

  • Location: Loch Alpine, MI (on-site)
  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Estimated compensation: $72,046 per year (estimated from source; actual offer may vary)

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with pet food manufacturing or feed-grade ingredient evaluation
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for animal feed and pet food labeling
  • Experience supporting product trials and technical field evaluations
