What You’ll Do
This is an early-career Nutritionist role supporting a confidential client’s pet food and feed formulation team. You will help develop, evaluate, and implement nutrition programs and pet food formulations while collaborating with quality, production, and procurement teams.
- Support formulation development and recipe adjustments for pet food and feed products.
- Analyze feed ingredients and ingredient specifications to ensure nutritional targets are met.
- Evaluate nutritional data and run basic analyses to support product decisions.
- Work with cross-functional teams (quality, production, procurement) to troubleshoot production or ingredient issues.
- Conduct literature and market research on emerging ingredients, nutritional trends, and regulatory developments.
- Maintain accurate formulation and nutrition documentation; assist with quality monitoring and recordkeeping.
- Contribute to validation and testing activities as products move from development to production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Food Science, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of animal nutrition principles and feed formulation.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience (entry-level to early-career qualified candidates encouraged to apply).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret nutritional data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience within the pet food, feed, or animal nutrition industry.
- Familiarity with pet food or feed formulation software/tools.
- Understanding of pet food manufacturing processes and ingredient sourcing.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to animal feed and nutrition (including AAFCO guidelines).
- Attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate nutritional documentation.
Compensation & Location
- Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 per year (listed by the confidential client).
- Location: Champaign, IL area (onsite work with some collaboration across facilities).
