Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Network Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team in Schiller Park, IL. This is an entry-level, full-time role designed for recent graduates, internship alumni, or candidates with 0–2 years of hands-on networking experience. Candidates with academic networking projects or certifications such as CCNA are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the configuration and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks
• Monitor network performance, availability, and connectivity
• Troubleshoot basic network connectivity and performance issues
• Assist with configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
• Support network installation, upgrades, and infrastructure changes
• Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs
• Assist with network security and access-control implementation
• Monitor network devices using network monitoring and management tools
• Document network configurations, changes, incidents, and procedures
• Analyze network alerts and escalate complex issues when necessary
• Collaborate with system administrators, cloud engineers, and IT support teams
• Participate in network testing, maintenance, and deployment activities
• Follow IT security policies and network administration best practices

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (OSI model, subnetting)
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs
• Basic routing and switching concepts
• Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools and methodologies
• Basic understanding of network security concepts
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a technical team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies and Cisco IOS
• Exposure to CCNA-level networking concepts or similar certifications
• Basic knowledge of firewalls, NAT, ACLs, and wireless networking
• Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Exposure to network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar)
• Basic network automation or scripting experience (Python)
• Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub)

• Location: Schiller Park, IL (on-site or hybrid per client policy)
• Estimated salary (from source data): $83,678 per year — actual compensation may vary and will be confirmed by Confidential Client during the hiring process.
