What You’ll Do

  • Support design and development of mechanical components, systems, and building services using Revit.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and analysis (e.g., heat loads, air flows) to validate designs.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and optimization of mechanical systems under senior engineer guidance.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation: design specifications, plans, and technical reports.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional team meetings to ensure requirements are met.
  • Contribute to brainstorming and innovation sessions that improve systems and processes.
  • Support selection and evaluation of materials, components, and equipment as part of project work.
  • Assist with quality control and assurance tasks during development and production.
  • Help prepare technical presentations and status updates for project teams.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency with Revit (mechanical modeling and documentation).
    • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles: mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid flow, and materials.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
    • Clear verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively in teams.
    • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience:
    • Internship, co-op, or relevant project experience is a plus but not required.
  • Preferred:
    • Familiarity with industry standards and codes (for example, ASHRAE, IMC).
    • Basic HVAC design knowledge.

Location & Logistics

  • Work location: Roanoke, VA (on-site with typical office and occasional lab or shop work).
  • Travel: up to 10% (occasional visits to manufacturing sites or client locations).
  • Employment type: Full-time.

Compensation

  • Estimated base pay: $76,445 per year (estimated). Actual compensation will be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications, and location-specific factors and will comply with applicable pay transparency laws.
