What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to support product development and prototyping of door systems at their Reamstown, PA test lab. This hands-on role blends physical prototype assembly and testing with CAD work using SolidWorks and documentation in Excel.

  • Prototype new door designs in the test lab, building assemblies per engineering prints and specifications.
  • Spend ~75% of time on hands-on prototype assembly and testing; ~25% on CAD and documentation.
  • Create, update, and revise 3D models and engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Review and mark up engineering prints to identify changes or improvements.
  • Record prototype results and design changes using Excel and tracking tools.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during assembly and recommend practical design/process adjustments.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to iterate on designs based on test outcomes.
  • Maintain organized lab and desk workspaces; follow safety and engineering standards.

Essential Skills

  • Engineering or technical background with demonstrable mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for modeling and drawing revisions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and mark up engineering prints and technical drawings.
  • Comfortable using Excel for tracking and documenting test data and changes.
  • Strong attention to detail in both lab assembly and documentation.
  • Practical hands-on assembly skills and familiarity with standard mechanical tools.
  • Problem-solving skills for diagnosing mechanical issues during prototyping.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or related technical field — recent graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Interest in product development, iterative design, and prototyping workflows.
  • Comfortable working onsite in a lab environment with mechanical components and hardware.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite, lab-focused role. Expect approximately 75% of time in the test lab building and testing door prototypes and 25% at a desk using SolidWorks and Excel. The setting is collaborative, with standard lab tools and safety protocols.

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
