The Entry Level or Associate Mechanical System Design Engineer at Confidential Client is responsible for developing, maintaining, and modifying air vehicle subsystems and component designs using 3-D CAD tools to support aerospace programs within the Air Dominance division. What You’ll Do
This opportunity is for Entry Level or Associate Mechanical System Design Engineers based in Kinloch, MO supporting aircraft subsystem design for a confidential client in the engineering sector. You will contribute to the development, maintenance and verification of air‑vehicle subsystem and component designs across their lifecycle.
- Assist with documenting subsystem requirements and establishing system design baselines.
- Develop, maintain, and modify subsystem/component designs using 3‑D CAD tools and other design methods to produce product definition for engineering groups, production, suppliers and customers.
- Support tests and validation activities to ensure designs meet requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate and support supplier development, testing and production activities to optimize designs and meet program goals.
- For Level 2 roles: take on greater responsibility for integrating subsystem requirements, performing tests, and supporting technology investigations for future concepts.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams under close to general supervision depending on level.
Who You Are / Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Materials, or related field).
- Level 2 applicants: minimum ~2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- Experience with NX and Teamcenter and familiarity reading 2‑D drawings preferred.
- Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance and for some program access.
- Willingness to work on site in the Kinloch / Greater St. Louis region and support aircraft programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical design experience on military or commercial aircraft subsystems (fluid systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, sensors, controls, etc.).
- Recent (past 24 months) active U.S. security clearance.
- Experience with thermal analysis (ANSYS Thermal Desktop) and modeling/simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, Simcenter Amesim, Flomaster).
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools.
- Experience managing supplier development activities and writing component requirement specifications.
- Strong problem solving, teamwork, and ability to deliver innovative technical solutions.
Compensation & Benefits
- Summary pay range (provided by the client): Level 1: $71,400 - $96,600; Level 2: $85,000 - $115,000 (USD, annual).
- Relocation assistance available based on candidate eligibility.
- Benefits package typically includes medical plans, retirement savings (401(k) with company match), life/disability insurance, flexible spending/HSA options, paid time off and other employee programs. Specific options depend on eligibility, hire date, and work location.
