Role Summary
This entry-level Lab Informatics Associate role in Tarrytown, TX is an on-the-job learning opportunity at the intersection of laboratory science and modern IT. You will support lab software (LIMS, CDS, SDMS), instrument integrations (HPLC, GC, balances, pH meters, etc.), and compliance activities that keep regulated laboratories productive and inspection-ready. This position is ideal for recent grads with a technical foundation (programming, SQL, or systems knowledge) who are eager to learn lab workflows and instrumentation.
What You’ll Do
- Provide first-level, hands-on support for lab informatics systems (LIMS, CDS, SDMS) and instrument integration platforms.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and upgrade instrument software across Windows and Linux environments.
- Support software-to-hardware integrations to ensure accurate, auditable data flow between instruments and enterprise systems.
- Use ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy) to manage incidents, service requests, and changes — own tickets from initiation to closure.
- Monitor and meet SLAs; document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and knowledge-base articles.
- Support system configuration, data archival, audit-trail integrity, and validation activities per SOPs and IQ/OQ/PQ processes.
- Assist with compliance activities related to GLP, GMP, and FDA-ready systems.
- Coordinate onsite vendor visits or engineer support when complex installations or validations are required.
- Collaborate with lab analysts, QA, vendors, and IT teams to translate lab requirements into technical solutions and process improvements.
- Contribute ideas for automation and Gen AI use cases that could improve lab operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Solid programming fundamentals in one or more languages (Java, Python, .NET/C#, or similar) and working knowledge of SQL; exposure to Oracle/PL-SQL is a plus.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting.
- Coursework or familiarity with lab instruments/processes (HPLC, GC, balances, pH meters, auto-titrators) and lab software concepts (LIMS, CDS, SDMS) is helpful — hands-on experience not required.
- Interest in validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and regulated environments (GLP/GMP/FDA); prior experience helpful but not mandatory.
- Preferred (not required): exposure to AI/Gen AI concepts, prompt engineering, or simple automation projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication — able to explain technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Customer-first mindset with ownership of issues through to resolution.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and ability to work across global/cross-functional teams and priorities.
