What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry‑Level Java Software Engineer to join a mission-focused engineering team supporting the Intelligence Community. You will contribute to cloud-native applications and modern DevOps workflows.

• Design, develop, and test cloud software components using Java and modern engineering practices
• Build and integrate responsive front-end interfaces with frameworks such as React or Vue.js
• Implement RESTful APIs and integrate backend services with MongoDB
• Containerize services and deploy using Docker and Kubernetes
• Support CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) and automated testing workflows
• Leverage AWS services to ensure availability, scalability, and security of mission-critical systems
• Collaborate in an Agile/DevOps environment using Jira and Confluence
• Troubleshoot defects, participate in code reviews, and follow secure coding practices

Qualifications

Minimum requirements (applicants who do not meet these cannot be considered):

• Active Top Secret / SCI with Full‑Scope Polygraph (TS/SCI‑FS Poly) — required
• Technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (or relevant coursework/certifications)
• 0+ years professional software development experience (entry‑level accepted)
• Proficiency in Java and familiarity with JavaScript front‑end frameworks (React or Vue.js)
• Experience with RESTful web services and working with document databases (MongoDB)
• Practical knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (or strong willingness to learn quickly)
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tooling (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins)
• Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills

Nice to have:

• Full‑stack project experience
• Automated testing (unit, integration) and test frameworks
• Security‑minded development experience supporting government/intelligence missions

Compensation & Work Location

• Total Compensation: $186,000+ yearly (as listed)
• Employment type: Full‑time
• Work arrangement: Position is primarily performed on‑site at a contractor facility in Savage, MD, with telework flexibility supported based on tasking and approval. (Local reporting/onsite access may be required for classified work.)
