What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is recruiting entry-level Java developers and early-career data-focused engineers for full-time placements. This role is ideal for candidates who have some technical exposure (helpdesk, QA, production support, or IT operations) and are ready to build a practical developer portfolio and interview skills.
You will:
- Work on hands-on projects using Core Java and Spring Boot to build RESTful services.
- Learn and apply object-oriented design, collections, and data structures.
- Write and run unit/integration tests and follow test-driven practices.
- Use Git for source control; participate in code reviews and CI/CD workflows.
- Interact with SQL databases and build queries to support application features.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application code with mentor guidance.
- Prepare for interviews with a focus on system design, tradeoffs, complexity, and real-world engineering communication.
Responsibilities
- Develop Java-based web services using Spring Boot and related libraries.
- Implement REST APIs and integrate with relational databases (SQL).
- Collaborate with peers in an Agile environment; participate in sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Maintain clean, documented code and follow secure coding practices.
- Complete assigned project milestones that serve as portfolio evidence for hiring.
- Participate in interview prep sessions to articulate technical decisions and tradeoffs.
Required Qualifications
- Practical programming knowledge in Java or C++ (coursework, projects, or on-the-job).
- Basic understanding of OOP, collections, and common data structures & algorithms (DSA).
- Familiarity with REST APIs, SQL, and version control (Git).
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn modern developer tooling.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. for on-site or client placement roles.
Preferred (but not required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Coursework or projects in Spring Boot, web development, or backend systems.
- Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD), containers (Docker), or basic cloud concepts.
- Interest or experience in data roles (data analyst, data engineer, data scientist) or machine learning.
- Internship, open-source contributions, or personal projects demonstrating practical coding ability.
