Role Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking motivated entry-level Java Developers with interest in Spring Boot, microservices, and AI-related work. This is a full-time opportunity based in Austin, TX for early-career engineers or career changers who want hands-on project experience, mentor-led training, and coaching to accelerate placement into production-facing roles.


What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to backend services using Java and Spring Boot in a microservices architecture
  • Implement features, write unit and integration tests, and participate in code reviews
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, QA, data scientists/ML engineers) to deliver AI-enabled features
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects in development and staging environments
  • Participate in design discussions and help refine system design and API contracts
  • Learn and apply best practices for CI/CD, containerization, and observability

Who We’re Looking For (Required)

  • Recent graduates (BS/MS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related fields OR professionals transitioning into software engineering
  • Basic working knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices concepts
  • Fundamental knowledge of data structures and algorithms (LeetCode-style practice is a plus)
  • Good problem-solving skills and willingness to learn on the job
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in team settings
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.; applicants with any visa status are welcome to apply (see note below)

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to Python, ML libraries, or data engineering concepts
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
  • Internship or project experience building end-to-end applications
  • Open-source contributions, personal projects, or real-world project work demonstrating delivery

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Employment type: Full time
  • Estimated base salary: $112,886 per year (estimated, provided by source)

Location & Work Model

  • Onsite / Austin, TX (local candidates preferred). Specific work model (onsite, hybrid, remote) will be confirmed by Confidential Client during the hiring process.
