What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level backend / Java developer role supporting internal and client-facing projects for a confidential client in Phoenix, AZ. You will work on backend services and collaborate with engineers, QA, and product teams to deliver reliable, tested software.
- Contribute to backend development using Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot).
- Implement and consume REST APIs and microservices.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Work with containerization and CI/CD tools (Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across development, staging, and production environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Maintain documentation for services, APIs, and deployment steps.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications we look for in successful candidates:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field — or equivalent project/work experience.
- Hands-on experience or coursework with core Java.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and basic web technologies (HTTP, JSON).
- Strong problem-solving ability and eagerness to learn.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.; the confidential client may provide immigration support (see Additional Details).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
These skills will help you ramp up faster but are not required at application:
- Spring Boot, microservices architecture.
- Docker, Kubernetes (K8s) or other container orchestration exposure.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.
- Front-end or full-stack exposure: JavaScript, basic front-end frameworks.
- Familiarity with Python, data tooling, or machine learning fundamentals (helpful for hybrid roles).
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI), Databricks, TensorFlow, NLP or text-mining concepts.
