Position Overview

Confidential Client, an IT services provider, is hiring an Entry Level IT Field Technician to deliver on-site computer and network support across South Boston and the greater eastern Massachusetts area. This role requires daily travel to client locations (North Shore, South Shore, Boston, Metro West). You will install and maintain hardware and software, troubleshoot networks and systems, and provide excellent end-user support while gaining mentorship and on-the-job training.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide on-site technical support for Windows, macOS, and mixed PC environments
  • Install, configure, and test PC and server hardware, peripherals, and software
  • Troubleshoot network hardware/software, routers, DNS, DHCP, and VPN/remote access
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, backups, and basic disaster recovery tasks
  • Replace/repair computer hardware and maintain battery backup/online backup systems
  • Configure email systems and assist with system administration tasks
  • Document work, escalate vendor issues when needed, and support end-user training
  • Participate in job and system upgrades, testing, and implementation efforts

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Entry-level experience in IT support (1 year preferred)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server and system administration
  • Experience with routers, NAT/port forwarding, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs
  • Comfortable installing and configuring network hardware and software
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for daily travel
  • English fluency required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Yearly salary starts at $50,000
  • Additional compensation/perks:
    • Gas mileage payments (~$3,600 per year)

Schedule & Location

  • Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (30–60 minute lunch). On-call schedule to be discussed during interview.
  • Work location: On the road — South Boston, MA (travel across eastern Massachusetts required).
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel almost daily to client sites.
