What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is looking for an Entry Level Infrastructure Software Engineer to join an agile team delivering secure, resilient infrastructure for surface ship systems. You will:
- Develop, configure, test, and troubleshoot infrastructure solutions in lab and field environments.
- Automate system deployment and configuration using scripting and configuration management tools.
- Deploy, secure, and manage virtual machines and virtualization platforms.
- Produce technical documentation and follow rigorous systems engineering processes.
- Collaborate daily with cross-functional teammates to meet project commitments to the U.S. Navy mission.
- Travel up to 50% of the time as required by program schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Linux server and/or Microsoft Windows desktop/server environments.
- Write and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, BASH) and use Ansible for configuration management.
- Design, configure, and harden virtual machines (VMware, Proxmox).
- Perform systems administration tasks including vulnerability scanning and remediation support.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and contribute to root-cause analysis.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, runbooks, and test plans.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- U.S. citizenship required (work involves access to U.S. Government facilities and information).
- Ability to meet eligibility requirements for U.S. Government security investigations; a Department of Defense Secret clearance is preferred at time of hire or must be obtainable.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Familiarity with Linux server administration and Microsoft Windows server/desktop administration.
- Hands-on experience or coursework with scripting and automation: PowerShell, BASH, and Ansible.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Proxmox) and VM lifecycle management.
- Systems engineering understanding: technical standards, principles, and disciplined engineering practices.
- CompTIA Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and eager for continuous professional development.
- Interest in identifying opportunities to apply AI for process improvement.
Workplace & Schedule
- This role may be fully on-site or offered as hybrid/flex depending on program needs. When on-site, you will work with the Allendale / Pittsfield area team.
- Typical schedule options may include flexibility such as a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off), subject to program requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
- Combined Salary Range: USD $77,843 - USD $86,358 per year (estimate; actual pay may vary based on experience, location, and other factors).
