Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry‑Level Instrument, Electrical & Controls (IE&C) Engineer to join their Priceville, AL team. This is an early-career opportunity suitable for new graduates or candidates with internship/co‑op experience who want hands‑on exposure to industrial instrumentation, electrical power systems, controls, and PLC work within the Energy, Oil & Gas sector.
What You’ll Do
The successful candidate will work under guidance from experienced engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support IE&C design, commissioning, and fieldwork for industrial process and manufacturing projects.
- Support development of IE&C installation drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Create data sheets, equipment specifications, and contractor bid packages that meet codes and client requirements.
- Assist with development, troubleshooting, and migration of PLC logic (Rockwell Automation).
- Contribute to P&ID instrumentation and controls elements.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and quality standards.
- Support startup and commissioning, and provide construction observation and field support.
- Track tasks and communicate progress to project managers to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
- Prepare technical scopes, reports, and proposals for multi‑discipline projects.
- Travel to client sites as required to gather field data and support installations (approx. 5% travel).

- Process instrumentation sizing and specification
- PLC control system design, modifications, and migrations (Rockwell)
- Low- and medium-voltage power distribution design and protection coordination
- VFD installation and motor control systems
- DCS installations and backup power systems
- Arc-flash analysis, grounding and lightning protection
- Industrial facility lighting, electric heat tracing, communication systems
- Process analyzer and sample systems
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- FE passed, EIT certified, or willingness to pursue FE completion within an agreed timeframe after hire.
- Internship, co‑op, academic project, or entry-level experience related to instrumentation, electrical power, controls, manufacturing, process, or heavy industrial facilities.
- Basic familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit and PLC concepts (Rockwell preferred).
- Able to perform field work (lifting small equipment, climbing stairs/ladders, wearing PPE).
Preferred
- Prior internship or co‑op experience in industrial/plant environments or engineering consulting with IE&C project exposure.
Physical & Work Conditions
- May carry light field measurement equipment (up to ~15 lbs).
- Will perform indoor/outdoor site visits; ability to walk up to one mile on plant/construction sites.
- Able to use multi‑level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
- Ability to work in protective clothing for short periods and to hear safety alarms while wearing hearing protection.
- Normal office duties (typing, preparing technical documents) combined with periodic field work.
Employment Type, Location & Travel

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 USD per year (actual pay determined by experience, qualifications, and location).
