What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level engineering role on a federal systems team working onsite at the Pentagon. You will train, learn, and support HVAC controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS) in mission-critical federal facilities.

  • Conduct self-study and instructor-led training to build technical proficiency and complete required certifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting and replacement of HVAC controls systems and related light commercial mechanical equipment (primarily Metasys and Distech systems).
  • Diagnose and repair electronic and digital control system malfunctions.
  • Test and modify systems software as required.
  • Assist with sketching and documenting field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.
  • Deliver customer training, manuals, and documentation on electronic control systems operations.
  • Support mechanical staff with troubleshooting and minor mechanical maintenance as needed.
  • Ensure work complies with client, federal regulations, industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Compile project documentation (certificates of completion, training forms, punch lists).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, schematics and product manuals.
  • Follow site safety standards and provide safety awareness leadership to technicians and subcontractors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, HVAC, or Industrial Engineering).
  • U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances and/or site badges (background, criminal, employment and credit checks required).

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with HVAC mechanical equipment or HVAC Controls (Direct Digital Controls), VAVs, VRFs or related systems.
  • Familiarity with electronic/digital controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation and peripheral equipment installation/servicing.
  • Technical knowledge or hands-on experience with Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara, or Distech DDC systems.
  • Programming and troubleshooting experience with HVAC controls brands (e.g., Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta, Distech, Carrier).
  • Experience with BAS communication protocols such as BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, N2, P1, Modbus, and/or LON.
  • Experience using SMP, SCT, and/or CCT tools.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour to start, with designated milestone pay increases for completed training. Final offer negotiable based on experience.
  • Company vehicle provided; gas card included.
  • Shift: Day shift, primarily 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
  • Benefits: Eligible on first day of employment.
  • Time off: 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year.
  • Travel: Limited. Primary work is onsite at the Pentagon; some initial travel for training may be required.

Location & Clearance

This role is onsite at the Pentagon (Arlington, VA). Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and maintain any required government security clearances/badges. Clearance and badge processes include background, criminal, employment and credit checks.
