What You’ll Do

You will support the project HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) program for Life Sciences construction projects in the Cary/Clayton, NC area. Working with the Project HSE Manager and project stakeholders, you will promote a culture of safety, help prevent injuries, and support regulatory compliance across construction activities.

  • Support implementation of project HSE plans, processes, and tools
  • Assist the Project HSE Manager with inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions
  • Deliver toolbox talks, site orientations, and basic safety training to craft and subcontractors
  • Provide technical guidance on safe work methods, PPE, and hazard controls
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and support contractor coordination
  • Help maintain documentation and prepare reports that support HSE metrics and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a visible, on-site HSE resource for the project team and subcontractors
  • Conduct daily/periodic safety rounds and identify opportunities for hazard reduction
  • Assist with regulatory and client-driven HSE reviews and audits
  • Support incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and follow-through on corrective measures
  • Contribute to development and delivery of training and outreach to the workforce
  • Support implementation of the client’s HSE standards and ensure consistency across project teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, construction safety, or related field
  • 0–2 years of construction HSE experience (internship or early-career experience acceptable)
  • Familiarity with OSHA construction safety regulations and HSE best practices
  • Experience delivering or assisting with safety trainings and toolbox talks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build productive relationships with craft, contractors, and project staff
  • This role is not eligible for candidates who require sponsorship now or in the future

Nice to Have

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety
  • OSHA 510 completed or underway
  • Previous site-based HSE experience on Life Sciences / pharmaceutical construction projects
  • Experience with subcontractor management and safety oversight

Location & Travel

  • Primary location: Cary / Clayton, NC area (on-site). Some travel to project sites across the region may be required.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.; this role does not provide visa sponsorship.

Compensation

  • Estimated salary: $56,527 per year (estimated). Exact pay may vary based on experience and local laws.
