Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry-Level GIS Analyst in Los Angeles, CA to support GIS data reduction, map creation, and spatial analysis using Esri’s ArcGIS suite. This is a full-time opportunity to build hands-on GIS experience across multiple disciplines (environmental, site/civil, geotechnical, transportation, natural resources, landscape architecture, and survey) while working with cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do
You will support project teams by preparing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data to inform design and planning deliverables. Typical responsibilities include:
- Responsible for data reduction, analysis and map creation
- Design and maintain project GIS database(s) to keep project data organized and cataloged
- Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, aerial imagery and tests to perform customized analyses (soil composition, terrain, hydrology, topography, geologic data)
- Review computer-generated reports for quality and revise as needed
- Create customized procedures and perform QA/QC of project data
- Produce data products and GIS visuals for infrastructure planning initiatives
- Run spatial analyses to evaluate current and projected project conditions
- Leverage ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal to develop and train field staff on mobile/web solutions
- Advise project teams on visualization software and convert datasets into required formats
- Support GPS/UAS data collection and processing as needed
- Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following background and skills:
- Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or Engineering
- 0–2 years of related work experience (entry-level)
- Strong understanding of cartographic principles, spatial data concepts, projections, data management, digital map production, and QA/QC
- Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS Pro and common desktop extensions (Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, etc.)
- Familiarity with ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS Online, and creating mobile/web applications
- Ability to collect, process, and evaluate GPS data; experience with UAS/drone data capture is a plus
- Knowledge of ESRI geodatabase design and general database manipulation (joins, summarizing, tabular data)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access)
- Strong organization, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and good judgment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated base: $81,432 per year (estimated — provided by source)
