Job Summary
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join their Syracuse, NY team. This role focuses on planning and executing field investigations, monitoring foundations and earthwork construction, documenting findings, and assisting with geotechnical reports on medium- to large-scale projects. This is a full-time, field-forward position ideal for recent Civil/Geotechnical graduates or engineers with up to 2 years’ experience.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with planning and executing field investigations: log borings and test pits, collect soil/rock samples, run field tests, and record field data.
- Observe foundation and earthwork construction to verify conformance with construction documents and best practices.
- Prepare standard logs and field forms (drilling/test pit logs, daily field reports, chain-of-custody).
- Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches to support subsurface evaluations.
- Identify and implement practical solutions to routine and complex field or lab problems.
- Communicate site findings and issues clearly and promptly to supervisors and project teams.
- Support preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations under guidance.
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; Master’s or geotechnical specialization is a plus.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates encouraged).
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
- EIT certification or current registration for the FE exam preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, multitasking, and sound judgment.
- Comfortable spending the majority of work hours in the field (site visits, sampling, construction observation).
- Reliable transportation for site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $68,250 - $88,750 USD (range provided by Confidential Client; actual pay will depend on experience, credentials, and location).

Location & Work Conditions
- Primary work location: Syracuse, NY. Significant fieldwork and travel to job sites within the region are expected.
