Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join their Geotechnical Team in Manhattan, NY. This early-career role supports subsurface exploration, geotechnical analyses, and the preparation of design and construction deliverables across transportation, water, facilities, and related infrastructure projects. Fall 2026 graduates are encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
- Perform geotechnical calculations and designs for shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, settlement analyses, tieback anchors, soil nails, slope stability, and seepage studies.
- Assist with preparation of geotechnical reports, technical correspondence, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Support planning and execution of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing programs.
- Conduct field activities including test boring inspection, site reconnaissance, and field data collection.
- Provide geo-construction observation during construction as required.
- Travel as needed to project sites, other client locations, and other offices (may include overnight travel).
What You’ll Bring (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 0–3 years of geotechnical experience, including subsurface exploration or geotechnical design deliverables.
- Demonstrated interest in geotechnical engineering through coursework, internships, or related experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Excellent field observation and data collection/documentation skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons; capable of lifting 30 pounds and traversing steep slopes/rough terrain.
- Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree with a geotechnical focus.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with NYDOT, PANYNJ, Amtrak, and MTA standards.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with geotechnical software such as SLIDE, SLOPE/W, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, Settle3, and gINT.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year (dependent on experience and geographic location).
