What You’ll Do
You will support a mix of field and office work on geotechnical and environmental projects under the supervision of licensed engineers and geologists.
- Conduct field investigations and subsurface exploration including soil borings, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation, soil and rock classification, in-situ testing, and sample collection
- Support laboratory testing programs and analyze subsurface and groundwater data
- Prepare data tables, figures, and clear technical deliverables and reports that align with state and federal standards
- Perform construction and environmental inspections and document site conditions
- Coordinate effectively with contractors, laboratories, vendors, and project team members
- Assist in engineering evaluations and contribute to problem solving on diverse projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining, or a related field
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or actively pursuing EIT; interest in PE licensure is preferred
- Strong interest in hands-on fieldwork and geotechnical analysis
- Basic technical writing skills and the ability to prepare organized reports
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to project sites as needed
Physical Demands & Travel
This role requires regular fieldwork and the ability to perform physical tasks with company-provided Personal Protective Equipment.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Walk over rough, uneven terrain and stand for extended periods (potentially up to 12 hours)
- Routinely lift and carry 40–50 lbs (samples and equipment)
- Work outside normal business hours and travel overnight when project needs require
