About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer in Indianapolis, IN (full-time). This hands-on role blends fieldwork and office analysis so you’ll gain practical experience in geotechnical subsurface exploration, environmental investigation, construction support, and technical reporting under the mentorship of licensed engineers and geologists.

What You’ll Do

  • Support field investigations and subsurface exploration: soil borings, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation, soil/rock classification, in-situ testing, and sampling of soil, groundwater, and gas.
  • Assist laboratory testing programs and analyze geotechnical and environmental data.
  • Prepare data tables, figures, graphs, and technical report sections; compare findings to federal and state standards.
  • Perform construction and environmental inspections; document site conditions and verify compliance with project plans and specs.
  • Coordinate with drilling contractors, laboratories, vendors, and project team members.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and external clients; assist with project deliverables and presentation materials.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining, or a related field.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or working toward it, with interest in pursuing PE licensure.
  • Strong interest in both field and analytical geotechnical work.
  • Basic technical writing ability (college-level).
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel as needed for project sites.

Physical Demands & Travel

You must be willing and able to:

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Walk over rough, uneven terrain and stand for extended periods (potentially up to 12 hours).
  • Routinely lift and carry 40–50 lbs (samples and equipment).
  • Work outside normal business hours and travel (often out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs require.
