About the role

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to support field investigations, monitor earthwork and foundation construction, help resolve lab/field issues, and assist in preparing geotechnical logs and reports for medium- to large-scale projects. This is a full-time role based in East Irvine, CA with frequent field work.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist with planning and executing field investigations: log borings and test pits, collect samples, perform field tests, and record data
  • Observe foundation and earthwork construction and monitor conformance with construction documents
  • Identify and implement solutions to routine and complex field and laboratory problems
  • Prepare drilling and test pit logs, field investigation dailies, chain-of-custody forms, and other standard field documentation
  • Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches
  • Document and promptly communicate site issues to your supervisor
  • Support preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and technical deliverables
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; Master’s with geotechnical focus or interest to pursue preferred
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (entry-level)
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • EIT certification or active registration for the FE exam is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, multitasking, and sound judgment
  • Willingness to spend the majority of work hours in the field
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Travel as required by project needs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range (posted): $68,250—$93,000 USD per year (California pay transparency disclosure included)
