What You’ll Do

You will join the project team supporting geotechnical, civil, and environmental projects with a balance of fieldwork and office-based engineering. This entry-level role is designed to provide mentorship and practical experience while contributing to real projects.

  • Support field investigations: observe and assist with soil borings, drilling oversight, monitor well installation, soil and rock classification, in‑situ testing, and sample collection (soil, groundwater, gas).
  • Assist laboratory and data programs: support sample handling, coordinate with labs, and help manage data from testing programs.
  • Analyze subsurface conditions: interpret geotechnical and geological data and assist in engineering evaluations.
  • Prepare technical documentation: develop data tables, figures, and graphics; compare results to regulatory standards; assist with clear, organized technical reports.
  • Construction & environmental support: perform site inspections, document conditions, and help ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders: communicate with drilling contractors, laboratories, vendors, internal team members, and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining, or a closely related field.
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification is required or in progress; interest in pursuing PE licensure is expected.
  • Strong interest in hands‑on field work and analytical geotechnical tasks.
  • College‑level technical writing ability and strong attention to detail.
  • Valid eligibility to work in the U.S. (I‑9 required). Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Physical Demands & Travel

This position includes regular fieldwork and may require out‑of‑town travel and occasional overnight stays.

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Walk over rough, uneven terrain and stand for extended periods (potentially up to 12 hours).
  • Routinely lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs (equipment and samples).
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as project needs arise.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay: $89,656 per year (estimated).
