Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Geologist to support environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation projects based in Seattle, WA. This is a part-time, field-forward role (expect ~70–90% field work) with regional travel and hands-on training in soil and groundwater field methods. The role includes opportunities to learn drilling oversight, groundwater well installation/sampling, vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, subcontractor oversight, and remediation system operation & maintenance.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist Project Managers and Task Managers with planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, and vapor/soil-gas sampling on project sites.
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors; prepare and review subcontracts.
  • Prepare technical documents: field reports, work plans, letters, memoranda, and regulatory submissions.
  • Compile, interpret, and summarize field and laboratory data; support cost estimates, scheduling, and budget tracking.
  • Support health & safety planning and follow site H&S procedures during field activities.
  • Perform operation and maintenance oversight for remediation systems as required.
  • Travel regionally (typically 1–2 days/week) and occasionally within the U.S. for multi-week projects.

Who You Are (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology (required).
  • Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork: lift equipment, stand for extended periods, work outdoors in all weather.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record for regional travel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour and/or 8-hour training.
  • Master of Science in Geology or related field.
  • ~1 year of professional experience in environmental fieldwork or sampling.
  • Experience with soil/groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion assessments, and subcontractor coordination.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $80,169 - $89,424 per year (range provided by the client). Actual pay will vary based on experience, education, internal equity, and location.

Location & Travel

  • Primary work location: Seattle, WA (work will include local/regional travel).
  • Expect frequent fieldwork (70–90% of role). Regional travel typically 1–2 days per week; some projects may require travel in the U.S. for up to two weeks.
  • Field sites may contain environmental media impacted by hazardous substances; adherence to health & safety protocols is required.
