What You’ll Do
You will support environmental assessment and remediation projects at commercial and industrial sites, primarily associated with current or former refineries, fuel storage, and related industrial facilities. Typical responsibilities include:
- Perform and document environmental field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater, and air sampling.
- Oversee drilling of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells.
- Conduct hydraulic conductivity tests, excavation monitoring, and use field instrumentation.
- Prepare field deliverables such as site maps, soil boring logs, well construction diagrams, geologic cross sections, and potentiometric surface maps.
- Assist with data analysis and preparation of technical reports.
- Coordinate field tasks with subcontractors and multiple project staff.
- Complete client and company health & safety training (including OSHA-required training) and follow all safety procedures.
- Support multiple offices within the environmental services team as needed.
- Travel and irregular hours are possible, including occasional overnight and weekend work.
Who We’re Looking For
We seek an entry-level candidate who is eager to learn and comfortable working outdoors in a field environment.
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
- Conscientious, detail-oriented, and disciplined approach to work.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Proactive problem-solver with curiosity and ownership of assigned work.
- Comfortable using standard office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
- Pre-employment physical required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field required.
- 0–3 years of experience in environmental assessment or remediation work.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER + current 8-hour refresher are desirable but not required.
Other Considerations
This role includes physically demanding field work and site access requirements:
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required for site access; candidate must meet Federal TSA background check criteria and be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
- Field work exposes staff to elements and may require respirator use and protective clothing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, traverse uneven terrain, and climb ladders.
- Workdays may exceed 12 hours and include irregular schedules.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated pay: $71,558 per year (estimated figure from source; actual compensation may vary and will be pro-rated for part-time roles).
- This position is listed as part-time; benefits eligibility depends on hours worked and employment classification.
- Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid holidays, paid time off accrual, tuition reimbursement, and other programs per the client’s policies.
Location & Travel
- Work location: Goshen, IN. Travel to job sites and between offices may be required.
