Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level Fire Protection Engineer to join its Life Safety Systems Engineering unit at a major site in Idaho Falls, ID. This early-career role blends facility systems management, engineering evaluations, and project engineering support across a variety of fire protection tasks.


What You’ll Do

  • Identify and analyze fire hazards and risk scenarios for facility systems.
  • Support inspections and oversee proper installation, testing, and maintenance of fire detection, suppression, and communication systems.
  • Assist with upgrades to more effective fire systems and equipment.
  • Perform engineering evaluations and code reviews to resolve fire code deficiencies.
  • Provide project engineering support for short- and long-term tasks, including documentation and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Learn and apply fire protection design principles to mitigate fire damage through proper facility design and system selection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or science field from an accredited college or university; or Master’s degree in a related technical, engineering, or science field.
  • Eligible engineering backgrounds include (but are not limited to) mechanical, electrical, civil, or fire protection engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn a specialty engineering discipline on the job.
  • U.S. citizenship required (role involves federal background investigation and eligibility for access to classified matter).
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation and company drug test (Confidential Client follows federal testing requirements; marijuana is tested and treated per federal law).

Preferred Skills

  • Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or coursework/experience in fire protection.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA fire protection codes and standards (for example NFPA 13, 14, 20, 25, 72, 101, 70/70E).
  • Ability to interpret and apply NFPA requirements in design, review, and field conditions.
  • Interest in the fire protection discipline and commitment to professional development via internal and external training.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $63,900 - $97,800 per year (actual pay depends on experience, qualifications, and business considerations).
