What You’ll Do
This entry-level Fire Protection Engineer will join a federal engineering team supporting building design and life-safety projects. Working under experienced engineers and designers, you will contribute to design tasks, documentation, and coordination across multi-discipline project teams.
- Support design and drafting of sprinkler systems, special hazards suppression systems, fire pumps, and fire alarm systems
- Assist with building and life-safety code research and application (IBC/NFPA/other applicable codes)
- Prepare drawings and calculations using Revit and AutoCAD under supervision
- Collect and organize field and project data; contribute to project coordination meetings
- Support development of specifications, submittals, and construction documents
- Learn and apply company/federal procedures and quality-control processes
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams to integrate fire protection systems
Minimum Qualifications
- United States citizenship (required for this federal role)
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited program
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit, and AutoCAD
- EIT certification or ability to obtain EIT within 6 months of hire
- Prior internship or coursework focused on building mechanical systems, life-safety systems, or fire protection engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Previous fire protection internship experience with an engineering or consulting firm
- Familiarity with sprinkler system hydraulics, suppression system design, or fire alarm design
- Strong attention to detail, desire to learn, and effective communication skills
