Overview

This role is for an Entry Level Field Technician supporting distribution and joint-use utility projects. The position is contract-to-hire, fully onsite in Dallas, TX. You will collect and verify field installation data, perform inspections and audits, and work alongside construction and contract crews under direction from field construction leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Document field installations and verify accuracy using laptops, tablets, GPS and other electronic tools.
• Work on-site with construction and contract services crews to capture as-built and inventory data.
• Conduct system inventories, joint-use management tasks, permitting support, and lighting audits.
• Perform pad-mount, sub-surface, ground-line pole, and apparatus inspections.
• Operate pole-measurement and inspection equipment and capture measurements with tools like ikeGPS.
• Assist with storm-damage assessments and routine distribution structure checks.
• Follow and develop knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and applicable construction standards.
• Enter and maintain clean, accurate data in client systems and support follow-up tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• 0–1 years of experience as a field technician; prior utility or distribution experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, GIS, Environmental Science, or related field is preferred but not required.
• Proficient computer skills: MS Office and basic field software navigation.
• Experience or familiarity with field data collection tools and processes (GPS, tablets, laptops).
• Knowledge or training in aerial/distribution engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with SPIDAcalc, Katapult, and ikeGPS is a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the region as needed and work fully onsite in Dallas, TX.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $23.00 per hour (range: $23.00 – $23.00/hr).
• This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity; final compensation within the posted range will depend on experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
