Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking Entry Level Field Engineers to support underground, deep foundations, and geotechnical construction projects. This role blends hands-on fieldwork with office engineering and estimating tasks. Ideal candidates are recent graduates (Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical, Construction Management or related) or those with some construction experience who want to start a career on large-scale infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do
Field Engineering
- Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Perform quantity calculations and measure percent-complete for installed materials and work
- Help prepare work plans, work packages, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Support field surveying and layout (elevations, control points) and compile as-built data
- Process and confirm daily labor timesheets and support field documentation
- Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox talks, and safety training
- Order and schedule material deliveries; plan and coordinate work groups on-site
- Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations as assigned
Office Engineering
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Conduct basic engineering calculations and prepare technical drafting to support field operations
- Gather and prepare data for submittals to customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies
- Support purchase order and subcontract preparation and minor solicitations as requested
- Maintain project recordkeeping: daily reports, photos, RFIs, memoranda, and cost data entry
- Assist with change order documentation and as-built data for Project Manager review
Estimating
- Perform quantity takeoffs, time studies, and cost estimating for bids
- Review plans/specifications, identify risk areas, and support senior estimators
- Incorporate historical production and cost data into bid preparation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required
- Strong interest in underground construction, deep foundations, and geotechnical work
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; comfortable with data entry and basic cost reports
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking, planning ability, and a strong work ethic
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel and relocate as projects require (national scope)
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Other Requirements
- Regular, reliable attendance and ability to meet deadlines
- Follow oral and written instructions and safety policies; work safely at all times
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when project demands require
- FIELD ROLES: may work at varying locations and under changing site conditions
Compensation & Benefits
- Base compensation range: $82,000/yr – $88,000/yr (actual pay varies by experience, education, location)
