Overview

Confidential Client is hiring Entry Level Field Engineers to support heavy civil, deep foundations, and underground construction work. These positions combine field and office responsibilities and provide exposure to estimating, project support, and specialty foundation / tunneling operations. Travel and relocation across North America are possible as projects require.


What You’ll Do

Field Engineering

  • Assist interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by measuring installed materials and percent complete.
  • Support preparation of work plans and work packages.
  • Assist with field surveying and layout: elevations, control points, and compiling as-built data.
  • Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets.
  • Help prepare Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Order and schedule materials; coordinate deliveries.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate on-site work groups and supervise subcontractor operations as needed.
  • Provide practical solutions for underground tunneling and foundation operations.

Office Engineering

  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings and contract documents.
  • Execute basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field activities.
  • Prepare data for submittals or transmittals (customers, vendors, subcontractors, agencies).
  • Assist with purchase orders, subcontracts, minor solicitations, and scheduling updates.
  • Maintain project records including daily reports, photos, RFIs, and correspondence.
  • Enter data into job cost systems and support review of cost reports with site management.
  • Support generation of change orders and as-built documentation for manager review.

Estimating Support

  • Assist senior estimators by reviewing historical data, production rates, and costs.
  • Complete plan and specification reviews and material/quantity takeoffs for bid preparation.
  • Identify and document project risk areas for estimator review.

Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong interest in underground construction, foundations, and heavy civil work.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proactive work ethic; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Critical thinking and planning ability.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate throughout your career as required by project locations.

Work Location & Travel

These roles are based in Tampa, FL (local posting) but projects move where the work is. Candidates must be willing to work at various jobsite locations and may be assigned to district offices or project sites across North America. Travel and relocation are common over the course of a career with Confidential Client.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Compensation: $82,000/year – $88,000/year (actual pay varies by education, experience, skillset, and job location).
