Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry-level Field Engineer to join a Water Infrastructure team based in South Waltham, MA. This early-career role focuses on field investigation, construction‑phase support, and rehabilitation of buried infrastructure and pipelines. The position requires regular travel for field inspections and hands-on work in confined spaces. What You’ll Do
- Conduct field investigations and inspections of water and related infrastructure under the direction of senior engineers.
- Monitor and document contractor compliance with drawings, specifications, and installation procedures.
- Provide construction‑phase engineering support, including documenting field conditions, deviations, and constructability issues.
- Assist in reviewing contractor submittals, coordinating inspections or testing, and resolving field issues.
- Prepare inspection reports, field logs, and technical memoranda summarizing observations and recommendations.
- Support senior staff with development calculations, drawings, post‑repair activities, and client communication.
Who You Are / Requirements
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) registration or ability to obtain within 1 year.
- 0–2 years of professional experience; relevant internships (field or lab) are a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to summarize observations clearly in reports and presentations.
- Willing and able to travel — expect approximately 50%+ time in the field across the U.S.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces (including underground pipes); appropriate safety training provided.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report; able to travel by plane and car.
- Civil-structural coursework (concrete & steel design) strongly preferred.
- Hands-on problem solver who is curious about buried infrastructure, pipeline reliability, and rehabilitation techniques.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range (good-faith estimate):
- Bachelor’s Degree: $79,560 - $81,640 per year
- Master’s Degree: $83,200 - $85,280 per year
- Eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
- Total Compensation package includes discretionary bonus program, profit sharing & 401(k) contributions, paid time off, health (medical/dental/vision), company-paid short & long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, tuition reimbursement, and additional voluntary/ancillary benefits.
Travel & Physical Demands
- Regular travel to project sites across the U.S.; overnight stays expected.
- Field work may require climbing, lifting, and working in confined or underground spaces.
- Safety training and PPE provided.
About the Team
You’ll join an engineering division focused on structural and pipeline integrity, condition assessment, and rehabilitation of hydraulic infrastructure. The team blends field investigation, design, and research-supported engineering to evaluate and extend the life of pipelines, tanks, culverts, dams, and other specialty structures.
