Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Field Engineer to support foundation, underground, and infrastructure projects across North America. This hands-on role splits time between field and office responsibilities: supporting field crews with layout and surveying, performing material takeoffs and basic engineering calculations, assisting with estimating, and maintaining project records. This position is ideal for recent graduates in civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, or construction management who want travel and career growth.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations, material takeoffs, and basic engineering calculations
  • Support field surveying and work layout, including elevation, control points, and as-built data compilation
  • Prepare work plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), daily reports, and other project documentation
  • Enter data into job-cost systems and assist in preparing change orders and cost reports
  • Coordinate and order materials; schedule deliveries and plan field work
  • Assist with subcontractor supervision and provide field support as needed
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite safety training
  • Support estimating tasks: historical data review, time studies, cost estimating, and bid preparation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field
  • Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel and relocate as project locations require (work is project-based across North America)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to meet deadlines; willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed
  • Safety-first mindset and ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $82,000 – $88,000 per year (actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and location)

Location & Travel

Confidential Client operates on a national scale. Project locations vary and may include both urban and rural job sites. Field roles will experience varying site conditions and require travel. Office assignments may be at district offices or project sites.
