Overview
confidential client is seeking entry-level Field / Office Engineers to support underground and deep foundations projects across the U.S. and Canada. This role blends time in the field (layout, surveying, supervision) with office work (takeoffs, estimating, recordkeeping). The ideal candidate is pursuing or has a degree in civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, or construction management and is willing to travel and relocate as projects require.
What You’ll Do
Field engineering (typical duties)
- Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Perform quantity calculations and progress measurements for installed materials and work
- Support preparation of work plans and work packages
- Assist with field surveying and layout (elevations, control points) and compile as-built data
- Help process daily labor timesheets and site documentation
- Support Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) preparation and participate in safety meetings
- Order and schedule material deliveries; help plan and coordinate work groups
- Provide field support and help supervise subcontractor operations when required
Office engineering (typical duties)
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings and contract documents
- Complete basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
- Prepare data, submittals, RFIs, and correspondence for customers, vendors, and internal teams
- Assist with purchase orders, minor solicitations, and subcontract preparation
- Maintain project recordkeeping: daily reports, photos, RFIs, memoranda, and cost system entries
- Support generation of change orders and as-built documentation for review
Estimating support
- Assist with plan/spec reviews and identify risk areas for senior estimators
- Perform material and quantity takeoffs and help analyze historical production and cost data
- Participate in estimate reviews and bid close-out activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, construction management, or a closely related field
- Prior construction or mining experience preferred (not required)
- Strong desire to work in the underground/deep foundations construction industry
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking, planning ability, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel and relocate as project needs dictate
Compensation & Benefits
- Base compensation: $82,000 – $88,000 per year (actual pay will vary based on education, experience, skillset, and location)

Working Conditions & Other Requirements
- Regular, reliable attendance and the ability to meet deadlines

- May be required to work overtime and weekends as projects demand
