Position overview
Confidential Client is hiring entry-level Field Engineers to support underground and foundations projects across North America. This hands-on role blends field and office engineering tasks, including surveying, quantity takeoffs, basic calculations, work-package support, and assisting with estimating activities. This is a full-time position that may require travel and relocation as project needs dictate.
What You’ll Do
- Field support: assist with interpretation of drawings and specifications, field surveying and layout, as-built data compilation, daily timesheets, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and site safety meetings.
- Measurements & quantities: perform quantity calculations, material takeoffs, and percent-complete estimates used for field progress and estimating.
- Work planning & coordination: help prepare work plans and packages, order/schedule materials, coordinate/subcontractor work groups, and provide on-site supervision support.
- Office engineering: perform basic engineering calculations and drafting, prepare submittals/transmittals, support purchase order and subcontract preparation, and maintain project records (daily reports, photos, RFIs).
- Estimating support: assist with plan/spec reviews, historical-data analysis, time studies, cost estimating, and bid close-out tasks.
- Safety & compliance: participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox talks, mass safety meetings, and required safety training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Prior construction or mining experience preferred but not required.
- Strong desire to work in underground construction and foundations work.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and the ability to plan ahead and problem-solve on site.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as career and project needs require.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and in teams.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base compensation: $82,000/yr - $88,000/yr (actual compensation may vary by experience, location, and qualifications).

Location & Travel
- Projects are located across North America. Candidates must be willing to travel and relocate throughout their careers as required by project assignments.

- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety policies.
- May require overtime and weekend work as project schedules demand.
