Position Overview
Confidential Client is hiring Entry Level Field Engineers to support underground and deep foundations projects across North America. This is a full-time, hands-on role that combines field and office responsibilities, offering broad exposure to construction operations, estimating, and project support on transportation, water/wastewater, power, mining, and telecom projects.
As an Entry Level Field Engineer you will learn to interpret plans, perform quantity takeoffs, assist in layout and surveying, support safety and site documentation, and contribute to estimating and project recordkeeping. This role is ideal for recent grads or early-career engineers pursuing degrees in civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, or construction management who want a career that may include travel and relocation.
District Overview
Confidential Client self-performs complex geotechnical and foundation work using specialty equipment and experienced project teams. The district delivers constructible, cost-efficient solutions using value engineering and constructability reviews. You’ll join a team that works across varied site conditions and project scales — from urban tunneling to large foundation scopes — gaining experience both in the field and in district estimating and project support.
Key Responsibilities
Field Engineering
- Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Perform quantity calculations by measuring work progress and installed materials
- Help prepare work plans and work packages
- Support field surveying and layout (elevations, control points) and compile as-built data
- Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets
- Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safety briefings
- Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox talks, and training
- Order and schedule material deliveries; plan and coordinate work groups
- Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations as required
Office Engineering
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings and contract documents
- Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
- Help gather and prepare submittals, transmittals, RFIs, and correspondence
- Assist in preparing purchase orders and minor subcontract solicitations
- Maintain project recordkeeping: daily reports, photographs, RFIs, and as-built documentation
- Enter data into job cost systems and help review cost reports with site management
- Assist in generating change orders for review by the Project Manager
Estimating
- Assist with historical-data review, production rates, and cost inputs for bids
- Complete plan and specification reviews and identify risk areas for Senior Estimators
- Perform material and quantity takeoffs for assigned bid packages
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering or Construction Management (or related)
- Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required
- Willingness to work in underground/underground-construction environments
- Ability and willingness to travel and relocate throughout your career
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and on teams
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Critical thinking and planning skills

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Compensation: $82,000/yr - $88,000/yr (actual pay varies by education, experience, skillset, and location)
