Role overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry-Level Field Engineer — Hardware Systems to join their IT team in Impact, TX. This hands-on position supports field operations: on-site inspections, hardware and systems testing, data collection and analysis, technical reporting, and direct client communication. The role requires frequent regional travel to customer and field sites and strong technical communication skills.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections, field testing, and data collection at regional sites
- Perform hardware troubleshooting and system-level testing
- Log and maintain regional performance metrics and monitor subsystem health
- Produce clear technical documentation, test reports, and status summaries
- Translate technical updates into actionable information for clients and internal teams
- Collaborate with engineers and field teams on data analysis and corrective actions
- Provide timely client-facing technical support during field visits
Minimum qualifications
- Recent Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Hands-on experience or coursework in field testing, on-site inspections, or data collection
- Familiarity with hardware subsystems and basic troubleshooting techniques
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
- Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively with remote teams
- Excellent organizational skills and a methodical approach to problem solving
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently for regional field support
Preferred skills
- Basic scripting (Python, Bash, or similar) for simple test automation or data processing
- Experience with data analysis and performance metric reporting
- Prior client-facing or field operations experience
- Demonstrated ability to produce structured technical documentation
- Team collaboration in multi-site environments
