District Overview
Confidential Client self-performs complex geotechnical and foundation work across North America. The team delivers constructible, cost-efficient solutions for underground and deep foundations projects using specialty equipment and experienced construction and estimating resources. This role is ideal for hands‑on engineers who want to split time between the field and the office and gain exposure to estimating, project support, and field supervision.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
Field Engineering:
- Assist with interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Measure installed materials and calculate quantities and percent complete
- Support preparation of work plans, work packages, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Help with field surveying, layout (elevations, control points) and as‑built data compilation
- Compile, process, and verify daily labor timesheets
- Participate in site safety reviews, toolbox meetings, and safety training
- Order and schedule material deliveries; help plan and coordinate work groups
- Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations as assigned
Office Engineering:
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings and contract documents
- Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
- Assist in preparing submittals, transmittals and project correspondence (RFIs, daily reports, photos)
- Support purchase order and subcontract preparation and minor procurement activities
- Enter data in job cost systems; help review cost reports with site management
- Assist in generating change orders and compiling as‑built documentation
Estimating:
- Complete plan and specification reviews for assigned projects and identify risk areas
- Perform material and quantity takeoffs and assist in preparing bid estimates
- Analyze historical production and cost data to inform estimates
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Prior construction or mining experience preferred but not required
- Strong desire to work in underground construction / heavy civil environments
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel and relocate during your career; be prepared to work at multiple sites
- Strong work ethic, critical thinking, and ability to work independently or in teams
Location & Travel
- Primary posting location: Garden, GA (postal code 31403). Field assignments may be located across North America; travel and temporary relocation are common.
- FIELD ROLES ONLY: Work locations and site conditions will vary; be prepared for outdoor and heavy construction environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base compensation: $82,000/yr - $88,000/yr (range provided by our client; actual pay will vary with experience, education, skillset, and location)
