Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking Entry Level Field Engineers to support underground and foundations projects. This early-career role blends field work, office engineering, and estimating. Successful candidates will assist project teams with layout, takeoffs, daily reporting, safety activities, and coordination of field operations. Travel and relocation may be required as projects occur across North America.
District overview
Confidential Client self-performs complex geotechnical and foundation construction across North America, delivering constructible, cost-efficient solutions for transportation, water/wastewater, power, mining, and telecommunications projects. Entry Level Engineers will rotate between field and office responsibilities and gain exposure to estimating, project controls, and specialty construction methods.
What You’ll Do

Field Engineering
-
Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision

Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percent complete for installed materials and work

Support preparation of work plans and work packages

Assist with field surveying, layout (elevation, control points), and compilation of as-built data

Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets

Help prepare Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and participate in jobsite safety reviews and toolbox talks

Order and schedule material deliveries; plan and coordinate work groups on site

Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations as assigned

Office Engineering
-
Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and contract documents

Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations

Prepare data, submittals, and transmittals for customers, vendors, and agencies

Assist with purchase orders, minor solicitations, and subcontract paperwork

Maintain project recordkeeping (daily reports, photos, RFIs, memoranda) and enter data into job cost systems

Assist in generating change orders and as-built documentation for review

Estimating

Assist in reviewing historical data, production rates, and costs during bid preparation

Complete plan & specification reviews to identify scope and risk areas

Perform material and quantity takeoffs for assigned estimating tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required
- Strong desire to work in underground/foundations construction
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Strong work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Critical thinking and planning skills
- Willingness to travel and relocate as projects require

Compensation & benefits
- Base salary range: $82,000/yr - $88,000/yr (actual pay depends on experience, education, skills, and location)
