What You’ll Do

This entry-level Field / Office Engineer role supports underground and foundation construction projects across North America. You will split time between the jobsite and the district office, supporting field operations, project estimating, and project recordkeeping.

Field engineering responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations and measure percent complete for installed work
  • Help prepare work plans, work packages, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • Support field surveying, layout (elevation, control points), and compile as-built data
  • Track and help process daily labor timesheets
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety reviews, and required safety training
  • Order and schedule material deliveries; plan and coordinate work groups
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor activities when required

Office engineering & estimating responsibilities may include:

  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings and contract documents
  • Support basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to aid field operations
  • Assist in preparing submittals, transmittals, purchase orders, and subcontract documentation
  • Enter data into job cost systems and help review cost reports with site management
  • Assist in quantity takeoffs, time studies, cost estimating, and bid close-out activities
  • Compile project records: daily reports, photographs, RFIs, change documentation, and as-built data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field
  • Previous construction or mining experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and planning skills; able to work independently and in teams
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to perform field and office assignments
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel and relocate as projects require (national scope)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base compensation: $82,000/year – $88,000/year (actual pay depends on experience, education, skills, and location)

Location & Travel

  • Primary posting location: Conroe, TX. Projects occur across the U.S. and Canada.
  • This role requires on-site presence for field assignments. Candidates must be willing to travel and relocate during their career as project needs dictate.

  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Adherence to all site safety policies and procedures; perform work safely and effectively
  • Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, peers, subcontractors, and clients
  • FIELD ROLES: work at varying jobsite locations and in varied environmental conditions
