What You’ll Do

This entry-level Field/Office Engineer role supports underground and foundations construction projects across North America. You'll split time between jobsite field work and district office engineering and estimating tasks. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations and material takeoffs from drawings and contract documents
  • Assist in preparation of work plans, work packages, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and as-built documentation
  • Support field surveying and layout (elevation, control points) and compile as-built data
  • Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets and enter data into job cost systems
  • Assist with basic engineering calculations, technical drafting, and submittal preparation
  • Participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, and safety training; support jobsite safety culture
  • Order and schedule material deliveries and plan/schedule work groups on site
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations as assigned
  • Support estimating tasks: historical-data review, quantity takeoffs, time studies, and bid package preparation
  • Help prepare purchase orders, minor solicitations, and maintain project recordkeeping (daily reports, RFIs, photos, memos)

Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

Candidates should demonstrate a mix of technical ability, hands-on interest, and a willingness to travel and relocate as projects demand.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required
  • Strong desire to work in underground construction/foundations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to plan ahead; reliable and safety-focused
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required for project schedules

Location & Travel

This role is based in Clearwater, FL with assignments that move to where projects are located. Our client operates nationally, so candidates must be willing to travel and relocate over the course of their career to support project needs across North America.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Compensation: $82,000/yr - $88,000/yr (actual pay depends on education, experience, skillset, and location)
