Role Summary

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Field Engineer to support underground and foundation construction projects in and around Boca Raton, FL. This early-career position combines field and office engineering responsibilities, estimating support, and hands-on project work. Ideal candidates are recent graduates (or soon-to-be graduates) pursuing civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, or construction management degrees who are willing to travel and grow into broader project roles.


What You’ll Do

This role provides a mix of field, office, and estimating responsibilities. You will:

  • Assist interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations from measurements and percent-complete assessments.
  • Help prepare work plans, work packages, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and basic technical submittals.
  • Support field surveying and layout (elevations, control points) and compile as-built data.
  • Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets and maintain daily reports and photographs.
  • Order and schedule material deliveries; help plan, schedule, and coordinate on-site work groups.
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations as directed.
  • Perform material takeoffs, basic engineering calculations, and technical drafting to support field teams.
  • Enter data into job cost systems, assist with cost reports, and help generate change orders and as-built documentation.
  • Assist in estimating: historical-data review, quantity takeoffs for bids, risk-item identification, and participating in estimate reviews and bid close-out.
  • Participate in safety programs — toolbox talks, site safety reviews, and required training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical engineering, construction management, or a closely related field.
  • Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong desire to work in underground/groundwork construction and willingness to participate fully in field assignments.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate as project needs require (national-scale operations).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and planning ability; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Regular, reliable attendance and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to working safely and following site procedures and instructions.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as project schedules require.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $82,000 — $88,000 per year. Actual pay may vary based on education, experience, location, and other lawful factors.
