Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Field Engineer to support foundations and underground construction projects. This full-time role combines hands-on field work, office engineering tasks, and estimating support across regional and national projects. Ideal candidates are recent graduates in civil, geotechnical, mechanical, mining engineering, or construction management who are eager to learn, travel, and grow in heavy civil and geotechnical construction.


District / Team

Confidential Client self-performs complex geotechnical and deep-foundation work across North America. The team delivers engineered, constructible solutions using specialty equipment and a range of project management and technical resources. Entry Level Engineers will rotate between field assignments, district offices, and estimating units as needed.


What You’ll Do

Field Engineering

  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
  • Support field surveying and layout (elevation, control points, as-built data)
  • Collect and process daily labor timesheets and site records
  • Assist in preparing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • Help develop practical solutions for underground tunneling and foundation operations
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox talks, and safety training
  • Order and track material deliveries, and coordinate work groups on site
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations as assigned

Office Engineering

  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Support basic engineering calculations and technical drafting
  • Prepare data for submittals and transmittals to customers, vendors, subcontractors, and agencies
  • Assist with purchase orders, subcontract preparation, and minor solicitations
  • Maintain project recordkeeping: daily reports, photos, RFIs, memos, and as-built documentation
  • Enter data into the job cost system and assist in cost reporting reviews
  • Assist in generating change orders and preparing deliverables for Project Manager review

Estimating

  • Assist in historical-data review, production and cost incorporation for bids
  • Complete plan and specification reviews for assigned projects and flag risk areas to senior estimators
  • Perform material and quantity takeoffs in support of bid preparation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical, mechanical, mining engineering, or construction management (or related)
  • Previous construction or mining experience preferred but not required
  • Strong desire to work in underground and foundations construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel and relocate for projects across North America
  • Critical thinking, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently and in teams

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base compensation: $82,000 — $88,000 per year (actual pay varies by experience, location, and qualifications)

  • Confidential Client operates nationally; candidates must be willing to travel and relocate as projects require. Field roles will experience varying site conditions.
