The Entry Level Estimator supports pricing, estimation, and preconstruction efforts for custom machine building and capital equipment projects. What You’ll Do
This entry-level Estimator role supports pricing, estimation, and preconstruction for custom machine building and capital equipment projects. You'll work across the project lifecycle to help create accurate quotes, plan execution, and support successful delivery.
- Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for capital equipment and machine build projects using mechanical and engineering inputs.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to produce accurate pricing and cost breakdowns.
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and milestone coordination from cradle to completion.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to collect technical and cost data for reliable estimates.
- Monitor budgets and costs, identify variances between estimates and actuals, and recommend adjustments.
- Coordinate tasks with internal teams and communicate expectations clearly to support project execution.
- Participate in project reviews to ensure alignment between estimates, scope, and client requirements.
- Keep organized documentation of estimates, quotations, and project records for auditability and continuous improvement.
- Provide feedback to improve estimation tools, templates, and workflows.
- Communicate estimate assumptions, risks, and opportunities professionally to stakeholders.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Some project management experience within an integration, machine build, or industrial environment.
- Experience managing capital equipment projects from cradle to grave.
- Hands-on experience with planning, scheduling, budgeting, and progress tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to develop estimates and quotations for mechanical and capital equipment projects.
- Understanding of preconstruction and pricing processes in machine building or industrial settings.
- Supervisory or coordination experience sufficient to direct tasks and set expectations across teams.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine build or integration projects.
- Associate degree preferred; alternative technical education and relevant experience considered.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field preferred but not required.
- Experience in fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for cost estimation and project planning.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with engineering, shop, and office staff.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple estimates, projects, and deadlines.

Work Environment
This role is based onsite in an industrial machine-building setting with time spent in both the shop and the office. The facility may be non–climate-controlled near equipment; appropriate industrial attire and standard safety practices apply. Collaboration between office and shop teams is regular and expected.
Job Type & Location
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Chickamauga, TN (onsite).
Pay & Benefits
- Salary range: $65,000 — $85,000 per year.
- Actual pay within this range depends on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
- Benefits include medical/dental/vision options, 401(k), paid time off (example: 2 weeks PTO), and other standard offerings.
