Overview
Confidential Client is recruiting an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to support environmental compliance, remediation, permitting, and planning projects. This is an early-career, full-time role based in State Farm, VA (work may also be assigned to other Virginia or Maryland offices). The position is expected to begin Spring/Summer 2027.

- Compensation: USD 55,000 - USD 75,000 per year
- U.S. Citizenship required (due to the nature of the work)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license required; employment contingent on Motor Vehicle Records review
What You’ll Do
You will support environmental projects across the Environment/Engineering practice under supervision. Typical responsibilities include:
- Data collection and analysis for environmental compliance, sustainability, and stormwater projects
- Environmental field sampling (stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste)
- Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and environmental reporting forms
- Conduct site visits to federal, industrial, and municipal clients
- Support basic engineering design activities under guidance (designs, sketches, calculations)
- Use standard software tools to analyze data and support deliverables
- Perform tasks within an agreed budget and schedule under supervision
- Local travel is likely; U.S. travel may be required depending on project needs
Qualifications
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Ecology, Biology, or a related discipline — or equivalent experience
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
Preferred
- General knowledge of basic engineering and environmental sciences
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office)
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor with clients and regulators
- Ability to work independently in office and field settings; tolerance for outdoor work in a range of weather conditions
- Willingness to learn on the job and travel locally (occasionally extended travel)

- New hires are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at a client office location as a condition of employment.
