What You’ll Do

You will join a Mid-Atlantic environmental engineering team supporting solid waste, landfill gas, air permitting, and related projects. In this entry-level role you’ll receive hands-on training and mentoring while contributing to both field and office work. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Support design and permitting for landfills and other solid-waste facilities (plans, specifications, construction documents).
  • Assist with engineering analyses, feasibility studies, technical reports, and construction oversight.
  • Prepare air permit applications, emission calculations, and compliance reporting for industrial clients.
  • Support construction quality assurance (CQA) activities and field data collection for landfill gas, stormwater, wastewater, and remediation projects (occasional travel required).
  • Produce CAD/Civil 3D drawings and support GIS and technology tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Leapfrog Works, SCS E-Tools or equivalent).
  • Contribute to initiatives in wastewater/liquids management, organics management, alternative energy (solar/biogas), greenhouse gas (GHG) and sustainability projects, and carbon sequestration support tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems, or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • At least 3 months of relevant internship, research, or work experience in solid waste, environmental, or general engineering settings.
  • Basic AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D familiarity preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail.
  • Good written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) credential preferred but not required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a driving record in good standing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: USD $65,000 — USD $70,000 per year (range reflects experience, internal equity, and location).

Location & Travel

  • Primary office: Pineville, NC (position will be based out of the Pineville/Charlotte area).
  • Occasional travel required for fieldwork and construction oversight across client sites in the region.
