What You’ll Do

This entry-level engineering role supports early-stage recapitalization work (including the Naval Examination Acquisition Project / NEAP) and helps translate technical requirements into safe, efficient facility and examination systems. You will work closely with Capital Projects, NEAP Lead Engineers, and test sponsors to define functional requirements, select technologies, and support system testing and facility startup.

  • Provide technical input on facility and examination system functional requirements, process flows, and technology selection.
  • Plan and champion examination capabilities for expended core and irradiation specimen examinations.
  • Coordinate examination system testing and support facility startup activities.
  • Serve as a primary interface between CMMI, Capital Projects, and other stakeholders for project execution.
  • Partner with NEAP Lead Engineers to represent test sponsor requirements and priorities.
  • Communicate clearly—both written and verbal—throughout design development to enable safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Occasional travel to other sites and external partners as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, or a related technical field from an accredited college or university; or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate diverse technical needs and reach consensus with stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to support project testing, commissioning, and startup activities.

Preferred Skills

  • Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferred).
  • Familiarity with project management principles and cross-functional coordination.
  • Experience or coursework related to facility design, systems integration, or irradiation/examination processes is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork mindset.
