Position Summary
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Engineer to join a commercial and residential construction team in Graettinger, IA. This role focuses on producing plan views, cross sections, and construction details to support building projects, sales, and management. The position is designed to develop technical expertise through consistent, detail-oriented work in a supportive environment.
What You’ll Do
As an Entry Level Engineer you will:
- Develop plan views, cross sections, and construction details for building projects
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and structural plans
- Perform basic structural calculations and material quantity take-offs
- Apply established company standards, guidelines, and procedures to produce accurate deliverables
- Support sales and management with technical answers and documentation
- Manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent, error-free work
- Participate in training and take initiative to grow technical knowledge of products and estimating procedures
Core Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality, detailed CAD or drawing deliverables consistent with company standards
- Collaborate with customers, project managers, and peers to clarify technical requirements
- Apply knowledge of construction methods, materials, and applicable building codes (including IBC and ASCE 7)
- Complete structural calculations and prepare quantity take-offs to support estimating
- Follow established procedures while exercising sound judgment within defined responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records and revision control for drawings and documents
Qualifications
Required / Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field preferred
- Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and structural design
- Familiarity with IBC and ASCE 7 building code requirements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural and structural drawings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to perform basic structural calculations
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, error-free work
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with customers and internal teams
- Willingness to learn, participate in training, and support team projects
- Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain a steady, methodical pace
