What You’ll Do

The Entry‑Level Power System Planning Engineer will support renewable energy and transmission projects by collecting and organizing engineering inputs, assisting with modeling and technical studies, tracking study progress, and preparing draft deliverables under the guidance of senior engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to grow hands-on experience in power flow and stability analysis and to learn industry-standard software.

  • Collect engineering drawings, technical datasheets, and equipment data from internal and external stakeholders for use in models and studies.
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, specifications, and equipment information to support project documentation.
  • Track status of studies performed internally and by external consultants; provide data inputs and follow up to keep studies on schedule.
  • Assist with basic power flow, voltage, and stability studies under supervision.
  • Support creation and validation of models for solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects.
  • Learn and apply industry tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and PSLF.
  • Assist in documenting interconnection requirements and impacts for internal project teams.
  • Contribute to development of internal tools and processes that improve efficiency.
  • Prepare draft reports, presentations, and communications for review by senior staff.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Interest in power systems, renewable energy, and transmission planning.
  • Willingness to learn power system analysis tools and modeling techniques (PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, PSLF).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn from senior engineers and take on progressively complex tasks.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required).

Skills & Tools

  • Familiarity or coursework in power systems, power flow, and stability concepts.
  • Hands-on or coursework experience with simulation/modeling tools is a plus: PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, Aspen.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Able to learn new software tools and company-specific modeling workflows rapidly.
