Role Overview
Our confidential client in the Information Technology (IT) services industry is hiring an Entry Level Data Scientist based in Kansas City, KS. This is an early-career, hands-on role designed for recent graduates or junior practitioners who want to build practical experience in statistics, data analysis, and applied machine learning. The team will provide mentorship and opportunities to contribute to real projects that support business decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Clean, prepare, and explore structured and unstructured datasets
- Perform statistical analysis and build predictive models to solve business problems
- Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders
- Support deployment-ready model development and documentation under senior guidance
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate analytical outputs
- Learn and apply best practices for reproducible workflows and model validation
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
- Practical experience with programming (Python preferred; Java familiarity acceptable)
- Working knowledge of statistics and data visualization tools
- Familiarity with data manipulation and querying (e.g., SQL)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn in a team environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Python data libraries (pandas, scikit-learn) and visualization tools
- Familiarity with NLP and text-mining techniques
- Experience with Tableau or other dashboarding tools
- Time-series analysis experience
- Any exposure to machine learning model evaluation and basic deployment concepts
Compensation & Location
- Estimated base salary: $82,876 per year (estimated)
- Location: Kansas City, KS (on-site or hybrid as defined by the confidential client)
