Position summary
Confidential Client is hiring entry-level talent for Data Scientist / Java / DevOps Developer roles in Houston, TX. This is a full-time opportunity that pairs skills training and project work with placement support — ideal for recent grads, people reentering the workforce, or professionals pivoting into data and software roles. Training is delivered live and online (candidates can participate from anywhere in the USA), and successful participants are prepared with work samples and interview coaching.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to entry-level data science, analytics or Java/DevOps projects depending on placement (data preparation, analysis, model prototyping, or application components).
- Refresh and apply SQL skills to build queries, datasets and data models.
- Build visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings; tell a clear analytics story for stakeholders.
- Work on small, real-world projects that become portfolio work samples for interviews.
- Participate in interview prep and receive feedback to present your experience clearly and confidently.
- Collaborate with mentors, engineers, and product stakeholders on scoped deliverables.
- Learn and apply DevOps basics (source control, CI/CD pipelines, containers) when aligned to the assigned role.

Compensation & location
- Base salary range: $82,000 - $127,000 per year (range provided by Confidential Client).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Location: Houston, TX. Training is delivered live online and can be attended remotely; placement may be with teams based in Houston or other client locations depending on role.
